PPQ firing pin

Post by Expl_eng » Mon Jul 02, 2018 7:19 pm

Anyone installed a PPQ firing pin in their TP9?

Received one to try today and installed with no issues. Dry fires nicely with my laser trainer. Will provide detailed report after trip to range on Friday.

I also installed the sprinco guide rod with red spring today.

Please keep us updated how it shoots at the range. I'm really curious to know if the PPQ firing pin will work in Caniks. I wonder if it would also work in the V2 and DA models?

Firing pin worked flawlessly. Put about 120 rds down range today with no issues.

I’ll pull it out tomorrow and do side by side pics of it next to the Canik firing pin. You do lose the pretty red indicator.

This was documented by someone on the old forum; the business-end of the PPQ M2 and the TP9 are the same. I tested the firing pin from my PPQ in my SFx and it worked fine.

Excellent. Looking forward to your side by side photos. Was this installed in an original TP9 or a later model?

First pics show firing pins side by side. Bottom pin is the PPQ and top is from my SFx, pre extreme duty upgrade version.

The last two pics show the lack of indicator, but you can still tell when it is cocked or fired.

If you don't mind my asking, what's the cost of a PPQ pin vs the Canik? Century wants $60 + shipping for 2 Canik pins.

Do you mind me asking what the advantage is to the PPQ pin vs the Canik? Cost, availability, performance?

Thanks.

If you shoot a mime, do you have to use a silencer? :-\

Canik wasn’t selling them, so I went with an available option. Wanted a spare in the event I broke my original.

Besides, it was a very cool experiment just to see if it would work. All the reason one needs...

Both good reasons...I was just wondering if I should follow suit...never had a problem - yet.

My canik firing pin works fine. I grabbed one since I’m going to shoot a couple of comps and wanted a backup. A coworker had his canik firing pin break.

I spoke with the guy who got it for me. The gunsmith machined this one. Cost was around €60. Since dropping it in, I haven’t thought about putting the canik one back in.

Would the pin in a 4 inch ppq m2 work in sfx and does anyone know if the spring is lighter in ppq striker spring than the stock sfx one?
